On January 1, 2025, a violent clash between two popular music crews shook Uganda’s entertainment scene. The encounter, which took place at the Empelle Festival, involved the gangs of two musicians, Alien Skin and Pallaso.
The violence between the two groups has raised serious concerns about the growing involvement of musicians in gang-related activities, especially in public events and nightclub performances.
The conflict began when members of Alien Skin's Fangone Forest crew and Pallaso's crew clashed. The situation escalated when Pallaso’s group reportedly raided Alien Skin's residence, causing significant property damage.
Not long after, members of Alien Skin’s crew allegedly retaliated by attacking the home of Weasel, Pallaso's brother, in Makindye, further escalating the tension.
Despite the violent nature of the attacks, the good news is that there have been no reports of injuries or deaths. However, the property damage left in the wake of these conflicts is significant.
The Uganda Police Force has been closely monitoring the situation and issued a stern warning to the musicians and their associated gangs involved in such violence.
In a public statement, the police emphasized that this kind of behavior, which involves gangs fighting each other in public spaces, cannot continue.
The police have made it clear that if these violent acts persist, they will take firm action against the individuals and groups responsible.
The law enforcement body warned that anyone caught engaging in or promoting gang violence will be held accountable for the damage caused.
This recent clash is not an isolated incident. It is part of a growing trend of violence involving music crews and gangs in Uganda.
These incidents often disrupt public events, creating chaos and making it difficult for the public to enjoy performances peacefully.
In some cases, these gangs have even caused disturbances in nightclubs and public spaces, further damaging the reputation of the music industry.
The involvement of musicians in gang violence is particularly concerning because they hold significant influence over their fans, especially young people.
Many fans look up to musicians as role models, and when these public figures become involved in criminal activities, it sends a dangerous message to their followers.
Instead of promoting peace, unity, and positive behavior, these musicians are setting an example of violence and destruction.
